Wonderful stuff. Also love: "I was inspired and disgusted, convinced of my own genius and filled with self-doubt. I was alone with my thoughts in the big city. I was, fundamentally, a grad student." Woof if that isn't where I am as well. But, more importantly (and to not put myself in the center of the sound as it were), these are excellent and substantive connections to make between the materiality of sound and the political systems which they are inevitably bound up in. Here's to hoping we can eradicate pretensions toward the politcal neutrality of sound! Love your writing; any plans on future FN episodes?
Thanks, Josh. I have several FN episodes in the works; the next one will be about music and viruses and I'm hoping to get out in the world in the next few weeks. Thanks for the encouragement!
